Dr. Avital K. Cohen offers comprehensive neurodevelopmental, psychological, and psychoeducational assessment services. Dr. Cohen is passionate about helping in the early identification of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other neurodevelopmental concerns, leading her to become a member of the Georgia Autism Assessment Collaborative (GAAC) through Emory Autism Center. In addition to evaluation services, she offers ongoing consultation for families with a child diagnosed with ASD to help them understand the steps to implement their treatment plans. Additionally, Dr. Cohen offers assessment services for the Katie Beckett Deeming Waiver and NOW/COMP waivers and understands that strict timelines are often in place for these families.
Additionally, Dr. Cohen provides assessment services for gifted, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), depression, anxiety, learning disorders, and neurocognitive deficits. She believes it is important for testing results to be communicated in a comprehensive report that provides insight into a child or adolescent's functioning that is helpful for their parent, school, and treatment team in determining a plan for services that will lead to the right supports being implemented given each child's unique strengths and weaknesses. While Dr. Cohen does not offer therapy services, she networks with many area therapists to help facilitate the process of families connecting with a good fit for any treatment services recommended following the assessment process.

If you need speech therapy services for your child, this is the place to go! After being told by the pediatrician to "wait and see" regarding my son's articulation issues, I went ahead and called Sage anyway, just for an evaluation. After a diagnosis of Apraxia of Speech was confirmed, we began therapy with Saren and her team. I can't say enough good things! They are professional, extremely skilled and proficient, have an obvious love for children, connect easily with my son, and most of all they give us a way forward, the much-needed hope that every parent desires, that their child will not only be okay, but will thrive. My 3-year-old son went from hardly being able to speak to being understood by most people in a short amount of time because Saren and Kayde are experts in their field. It's incredible! I'm so glad we called Sage when we did, and my whole family is forever grateful to Saren and her team.
We have had a wonderful experience with Saren and her team at Sage! Our daughter began therapy at age four for fluency and showed dramatic progress within just a few sessions with Saren. Annamarie also helped our daughter with her articulation, and she now says her "R" and "L" sounds beautifully. We are so thankful to Saren Annamarie, and Sage! Dr. Cohen obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park, and then earned her Masters and Doctorate of Clinical Psychology from Argosy University in Atlanta. While in graduate school, she received a special commendation from the faculty, as well as recognition for outstanding academic performance. Dr. Cohen is also proud of her past military service, as she spent four years on active duty and deployed to Iraq to provide mental health services for soldiers and support staff. She was awarded a Bronze Star for her service and dedication during deployment. Upon completing her service in the military, Dr. Cohen completed a postdoctoral fellowship, where she gained further training in the assessment of autism spectrum disorders, developmental disorders, and other problems commonly experienced by children and their families.
